MCE Cuts Sod for Three Projects in Obuasi, Sets Three-Month Deadline

The Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Faustilove Appiah Kannin, has cut the sod to mark the start of three development projects in the municipality, with contractors directed to complete the works within three months.

The projects comprise the construction of water closet facilities at Ntonsua and the Anglican Basic School at New Nsuta, as well as the renovation of a 12-unit classroom block at the Bedieso Experimental Basic School.

Speaking at a brief ceremony at Ntonsua, Madam Appiah Kannin said the 12-seater water closet facility, which would be complemented by a mechanised borehole, was intended to improve sanitation and access to water in the community.

She urged residents to take responsibility for the proper use and maintenance of the facility to ensure its longevity.

The Chief of Kunka, Nana Kweku Ponkoh II, commended the Municipal Assembly for the initiative and appealed for the provision of teachers’ and nurses’ accommodation to encourage essential service providers to remain in the community.

At the Bedieso Experimental Basic School, the MCE and her entourage inspected and handed over the project site to the contractor for the renovation of the 12-unit classroom block.

The team also handed over the site at the Anglican Basic School at New Nsuta for the construction of a 12-seater water closet facility.

The projects are being funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).

Other works handed over included the construction of guardrails at Nana Ponkoh and Koffekrom, funded from the Assembly’s Internally Generated Fund (IGF).

The ceremonies were attended by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Joyce Akosua Angmorteh; the Presiding Member, David Mensah Odoom; Assembly Members and other management staff of the Assembly.
