Ghana, Norway Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has engaged with Norway’s Minister of International Development, H.E. Åsmund Grøver Aukrust, to expand trade and investment, particularly in oil and gas, renewable energy, AI and agribusiness.

The meeting was held on Thursday in New York and aimed at further strengthening the longstanding partnership between Ghana and Norway.

During the engagement, they explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in maritime security, education, skills development and business-to-business engagement.

Discussions also centred on regional security developments in West Africa and Ghana’s efforts to strengthen regional cooperation in combating terrorism and violent extremism, the implementation of the Ghana–Norway Double Taxation Agreement and mutual support for international candidatures.

“I have accepted Norway’s invitation to pay an official visit later in the year,” Mr Ablakwa said.
