Ministry Of Health Sets Up Committee to Probe Unrest at Techiman Krobo Nursing Training College
The Ministry of Health has constituted a committee to investigate the recent unrest at the Nursing Training College in Techiman Krobo, Bono East Region.
A press statement from the Ministry said Prof. Vida Nyagre Yekong, Deputy Registrar of the Health Facilities Regulatory Authority and former Dean of the School of Nursing at the University for Development Studies, will chair the committee.
Other members are Mr Ahmed Bennett Mumuni, Human Resource Manager of the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council; Nana Asa Akon Panin, Techiman Krobohene; and Mrs Hephtzebah Gyimah, Deputy Director of Operations and representative of the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
The rest are Mrs Isha Sena Iddrisu, Secretary to the Conference of Heads of Health Training Institutions; Nashiru Deen Akparibo, President of the Ghana Nurse Midwife Trainees’ Association; and Dr Inua Yussuf Issahaku, Legal Director at the Ministry of Health.
According to the Ministry, the committee has been tasked with establishing the facts surrounding the unrest and determining the issues that led to the incident.
It will also review whether existing policies, codes of conduct and administrative procedures were followed and make recommendations to the Minister for Health for appropriate action.
The committee is expected to submit a comprehensive report to the Minister on or before August 11, 2026.
