ORC Urges Businesses to Embrace Sustainability Reporting
The Registrar of Companies, Maame Samma Peprah, Esq., has urged businesses to embrace sustainability reporting and strengthen their governance systems to improve transparency, accountability and investor confidence in Ghana.
She said businesses must increasingly integrate sustainability considerations into their governance, risk management and decision making processes to respond effectively to changing regulatory and global expectations.
Madam Peprah made the call when she delivered a goodwill message at the 2026 National Sustainability Reporting Conference last Thursday in Accra.
The Registrar said reliable information, sound governance systems and compliance were essential to building resilient institutions capable of creating sustainable value.
She said the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) remained committed to strengthening Ghana’s business regulatory environment through good corporate governance, compliance, transparency and innovation.
The Registrar noted that strong governance was important for sustainable business growth, investor confidence and national economic development.
Discussions focused on organisational readiness, data integrity, reporting systems, governance, assurance and the measures institutions needed to adopt to move from awareness of sustainability reporting to effective implementation.
For the ORC, the conference provided an opportunity to reinforce its support for a business environment where responsible corporate conduct, accurate information, accountability and sustainable enterprise growth contribute to Ghana’s economic development.
The conference, organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), in collaboration with the National Sustainability Reporting Implementation Committee (NSRIC) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), was held under the theme: “Countdown to Sustainability Reporting Compliance: Enhancing Readiness, Data Integrity, and Assurance.”
It brought together regulators, business leaders, professionals, financial institutions, assurance providers, academics and other stakeholders to assess Ghana’s preparedness for sustainability reporting and the implementation of the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, IFRS S1 and S2.
