Road Transport Operators Seek Review of Public Transport Fares

1 MIN READ

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) and the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) have formally submitted a request to the Ministry of Transport for a review of public transport fares.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, the two bodies explained that the move is in line with the Administrative Instrument that guides the determination and adjustment of fares.

They noted that the process forms part of the established consultative framework, which takes into account the various inputs that go into the operations of commercial road transport services.

The statement assured the public that engagement with the Ministry of Transport will soon commence, and the outcome of the discussions will be communicated in due course.

“We therefore urge all drivers, station masters, transport owners, and the general public to remain calm and await the outcome of the process,” it concluded.
