Roads Minister Assures Government Commitment to Volivo Bridge Project
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has assured that government remains committed to the construction of the Volivo Bridge over the Volta River.
Speaking at the opening of a fresh bidding process for the project, the Minister disclosed that an evaluation team had been constituted to assess the submitted bids.
He said the evaluation would be completed within seven days, with construction expected to commence at the beginning of next year.
Mr. Agbodza described the project as critical to improving connectivity, facilitating trade and enhancing access to essential services for communities in the area.
The Minister noted that the bridge, which is being undertaken through a partnership between Ghana and Japan, represents an important symbol of the cordial and progressive relationship between the two countries.
“We must build this bridge as one of the most concrete pieces of evidence of the cordial and progressive relationship between the people of Ghana and Japan. I think this is the time and we are confident that we will select a contractor who will have all the support from the Government of Ghana to start the project,” he said.
The fresh bidding process forms part of the procurement arrangements for the bridge project, which is expected to improve transportation and strengthen economic activities in communities along the Volta River
