Competition on Free Movement and Migration opens for Journalists and Bloggers in Ghana

Media Response and its partners on 8 June 2026 have opened the Mini-Video Competition on Free Movement and Migration in West Africa, which forms part of the Reframing Narratives on Free Movement and Migration in West Africa (FMM II) project.

This followed a three (3) training workshops on digital content creation and mini video blogging which took place in the Western, Volta, and Upper East regions.

The competition is opened to content creators, journalists, activists, and communications officers aimed at promoting positive and balanced narratives on free movement and migration in the sub region.

The initiative is intended to challenge common misconceptions about migration and encourage more informed public discussions on free movement, it stated.

The communications Officer at Media Response, Madam Enam Apetorgbor emphasized that, the competition seeks to engage media practitioners and communications officers, as well as citizens across West Africa to produce short videos that highlight the benefits, opportunities, and realities associated with regional mobility within the ECOWAS region.

“The competition seeks to amplify authentic voices and foster a better public understanding of how free movement contributes to social and economic development across West Africa,” she said.

Participants are expected to produce short videos that showcase real-life stories and experiences related to migration, cross-border trade, education, entrepreneurship, cultural exchange, and regional integration within the subregion.

Selected entries will be evaluated based on creativity, relevance to the theme, storytelling quality, accuracy of information, and overall impact. Outstanding participants will receive recognition and prizes, while winning videos will be featured on project communication platforms and at public engagement events.

The competition begins in the month of June 2026 and is scheduled to run for three months.
