Sports Infrastructure Key to Ghana’s Development Agenda — Sports Minister

2 MIN READ

The government has underscored the need for stronger international partnerships to help Ghana develop modern sports facilities capable of supporting both sporting excellence and wider national development.

The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, made the point when representatives of China Railway Construction (CRC), a major global infrastructure development firm, visited him.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the two sides to discuss Ghana’s sports infrastructure needs and possible areas of collaboration, with CRC presenting its experience in the construction of stadiums, training facilities and recreational parks.

Mr Adams said Ghana welcomed partnerships that could help provide world-class facilities while contributing to healthier communities, national cohesion and a stronger sense of pride among citizens.

He acknowledged China’s contribution to infrastructure development across Africa and stressed the importance of building partnerships that could translate into lasting benefits for Ghana.

The representatives reaffirmed CRC’s interest in future projects in Ghana, stressing their commitment to quality, sustainability and community development. They noted that investments in sports facilities and stadiums could serve as important foundations for the country’s broader sporting ambitions.

Mr Adams welcomed the interest and assured the delegation of the government’s readiness to facilitate discussions on potential collaborations.

The engagement highlights the growing focus on sports infrastructure not only as a means of improving athletic performance, but also as part of efforts to promote tourism, public health, community development and national pride.
