Bosomtwe DCE Commissions Nurses’ Quarters at Bonkokor
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosomtwe, Mr Engineer Abdullah Hamidu, has commissioned a four-bedroom, en-suite apartment for nurses at Bonkokor to improve the living conditions of health personnel in the community.
The facility, furnished with beds, mattresses and curtains, is expected to help address the accommodation challenges faced by nurses in the area and provide a more conducive environment to live and work.
Speaking at a short ceremony to hand over the facility to the health workers, Mr Abdullah Hamidu reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) are distributed equitably among communities across the district, based on their respective development needs.
He mentioned some of the Assembly’s ongoing and upcoming development projects, including the construction of a Kindergarten (KG) block at Atafram and a three-unit classroom block with teachers’ accommodation at Boneagya, among others.
The DCE emphasised that the Assembly would continue to provide essential infrastructure to improve the living conditions of residents and enhance access to basic services across the district.
The DCE also commissioned a mechanised borehole for the community to help address water challenges and improve residents’ access to potable drinking water.
The Chief of Abrankese Nyameani, Nana Opoku Amponsem II, expressed appreciation to the DCE and the Assembly for providing the nurses’ quarters and the mechanised borehole.
He recounted how he previously provided accommodation for nurses serving the community and expressed gratitude that the community now had a dedicated facility for health personnel.
Nana Amponsem assured the Assembly that the facility would be well maintained and urged the nurses to also take good care of it.
The Public Health Officer of the Bosomtwe District, Mrs Sandra Kusi, also expressed appreciation to the Assembly for providing the nurses’ quarters.
She noted that the facility would contribute significantly to improving the working and living conditions of health personnel and attract other health workers to the area.
Mrs Kusi thanked the Assembly and all stakeholders who contributed to the provision of the facilities and assured them of the nurses’ commitment to maintaining the quarters and using them for their intended purpose.
The event was attended by clergy, traditional leaders, Assembly Members, health professionals and community members.
