The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya Kwabre North in the Ashanti Region, Mr Emmanuel Jackson Agumah, has handed over more than 500 pieces of school furniture to the District Education Directorate for distribution to schools across the district.

The presentation, which took place on Friday, forms part of the DCE’s commitment to improving teaching and learning, as well as strengthening effective supervision in schools.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mr Agumah described the presentation of the mono and dual desks as an important step towards improving educational infrastructure and creating a conducive environment for teaching and learning.

He said the initiative reflected the government’s commitment to addressing challenges in the education sector and pledged to do his best to ensure quality education during his tenure as DCE.

“It is an honour to hand over more than 500 mono and dual desks to the District Education Directorate. I will do my best to ensure quality education during my tenure as District Chief Executive,” he assured.

Mr Agumah added that his support for education was motivated by his personal experience and the opportunities schooling had afforded him.

“My motivation to support education stems from the opportunity I had to go to school. I want to create that same opportunity for every child in this district,” he said.

Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiary schools, the District Director of Education for Afigya Kwabre North, Madam Ellen Eshun, expressed gratitude to the DCE for addressing one of the major challenges facing the Directorate.

She noted that the furniture would be distributed to schools in need and would help improve teaching and learning conditions across the district.

Madam Eshun assured the DCE that the items would be put to good use. However, she appealed for additional support in the future, explaining that the relatively young Directorate still lacked adequate logistics to enable its officers to carry out effective and efficient supervision of schools.

She said further assistance would strengthen the Directorate’s operational capacity and help improve the quality of education in the district.
