Ashanti Business Owners Support KMA with Gh¢200,000 For Temporary Police Structure
The redevelopment of the Kumasi Central Police Station into a modern, fit-for-purpose operational complex has received a major boost.
This follows a GH¢200,000 financial contribution from the Ashanti Business Owners Association (ABOA) to support the construction of a temporary police headquarters.
The donation, presented to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), brings total funds raised for the temporary structure to GH¢410,000 out of the targeted GH¢750,000 required to clear the path for the major construction works.
Presenting a dummy cheque on behalf of the association, the Executive Secretary of ABOA, Mr Charles Appiah-Kubi, stated that the financial gesture aligns with the business community’s commitment to enhancing security infrastructure and fostering a safe trading environment across the metropolis and beyond.
Receiving the donation, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Kumasi, Mr Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, expressed gratitude to ABOA for their consistent partnership in urban development
He used the opportunity to call on other corporate bodies and private sector actors to emulate the gesture.
Mr Boadi revealed that the Central Government has allocated a total of GH¢4.8 million for the full construction of the state-of-the-art Central Police Station complex.
He assured the public that physical construction of the main facility will commence immediately once police operations safely transition to the temporary site.
On his part, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, ACP Francis Kouame Somian, commended the KMA leadership and the business community for prioritising modern security infrastructure, emphasising that enhanced policing infrastructure directly improves public safety and civic order.
