Gender Ministry develops reporting framework for MDAs to track Affirmative Action Act implementation
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), through the Gender Equity Committee Secretariat, has developed and shared a reporting template to help Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) standardise reporting on the implementation of the Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Act, 2024 (Act 1121).
The Sector Minister, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, disclosed this during a one-day capacity-building workshop organised for Human Resource Management (HRM) Directors and Gender Desk Officers from MDAs in Accra.
The workshop, held with support from the International Labour Organization (ILO), aimed to strengthen the capacity of participants to understand the provisions of the Act, their institutional responsibilities and practical approaches to integrating gender equity principles into human resource management and organisational policies.
Dr. Lartey said the reporting template would ensure consistency in the collection, documentation and submission of information by public institutions, adding that it would support the mandatory submission of annual reports on progress made in implementing the Act.
She called on HRM Directors and Gender Desk Officers to serve as champions of gender mainstreaming and support their respective institutions to meet the obligations outlined under the Act.
The Sector Minister said the Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Act provides a framework for promoting equal opportunities and addressing gender disparities in leadership, governance and decision-making across the country.
She noted that the successful implementation of the Act requires the commitment and collaboration of all MDAs, as public institutions are expected to take steps towards compliance with its provisions.

The Chief Director of MoGCSP, Dr. Marian W. A. Kpakpah, commended the ILO for supporting the workshop and encouraged participants to actively engage in discussions, share institutional experiences and identify practical ways to implement the Act within their organisations.
The National Project Coordinator of the ILO, Mr Gideon Mankralo, urged participants to work collectively to achieve the objectives of the Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Act. .
