Trade Minister Launches Invest Ghana Summit and 22nd Ghana Club 100 Awards
The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has launched the maiden Invest Ghana Summit (IGS) and the 22nd Ghana Club 100 Awards with a renewed call for strategic investments to accelerate Ghana’s industrialisation and create sustainable employment opportunities.
Speaking during the launch in Accra on Wednesday, under the theme: “Investing in Ghana’s New Economy: Building a Productive Economy that Creates Value and Competes Globally”,she said the Government was committed to attracting investments that would strengthen domestic productive capacity, create jobs and position Ghanaian businesses to compete effectively in regional and global markets.
The Minister said Ghana’s emerging economy could no longer rely primarily on the production and export of raw materials, stressing the need to prioritise value addition, innovation, increased productivity and the development of globally competitive enterprises.
According to her, investment remained central to Ghana’s economic transformation agenda, requiring strong collaboration between the Government, private sector, domestic and foreign investors, financial institutions and development partners.
She said such collaboration was necessary to build a productive economy capable of generating greater value from Ghana’s resources while expanding opportunities for businesses and workers.
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare commended the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA), under the leadership of its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Simon Mijie, for introducing the Invest Ghana Summit as a dedicated platform to strengthen Ghana’s position as an investment destination.
She said the summit would also provide an avenue for meaningful engagement between the Government and the investment community, enabling investors to better understand opportunities within the Ghanaian economy and facilitating discussions on how to unlock new investments.
Turning to the Ghana Club 100 Awards, the Minister encouraged businesses across the country to participate actively in the initiative and use the platform to showcase their achievements, resilience, innovation and contribution to national economic development.
She said recognising and promoting high-performing Ghanaian businesses was important to encouraging enterprise growth and demonstrating the capacity of local companies to operate successfully in an increasingly competitive global environment.
The Minister expressed the expectation that the Invest Ghana Summit and the Ghana Club 100 Awards would contribute to strengthening Ghana’s investment ecosystem and advancing the country’s transition towards a more productive and globally competitive economy.
