Work and Housing Minister Engages Construction Industry on Sustainable Financing
The Minister for Works and Housing, Ahmed Ibrahim, has confirmed the government’s commitment to building a stronger and more competitive domestic construction industry through sustainable payment and financing methodologies.
Mr Ibrahim stated that the government is determined to work closely with contractors, consultants, developers, financial institutions and international partners to ensure Ghana’s infrastructure drive delivers lasting benefits.
The Minister made the remarks on Wednesday when he joined the Ghana Chamber of Construction Industries (GHCCI) at its Stakeholder Consultative Forum on Sustainable Payment and Financing Methodologies for National Infrastructure Projects.
He explained that with major projects currently underway, including the Big Push Infrastructure Programme, the Accra–Kumasi Expressway, the 24‑Hour Economy Infrastructure Programme and the Greenvile District Housing Programme, the construction sector has enormous opportunities to expand capacity and competitiveness.
He stated that the involvement of indigenous construction firms in these projects is important, not only for delivering infrastructure but also for building the capacity of Ghanaian enterprises to meet future demands.
