6,300 GES Staff Salary Arrears Have Been Paid- Finance Ministry
The Ministry of Finance has clarified that all 6,300 staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES) recruited in 2024 without financial clearance have been paid their outstanding salaries and arrears.
The Ministry said the Government inherited the affected staff in 2025 and took steps to address their salary concerns by securing Cabinet approval and issuing the required financial clearance in four tranches.
According to the Ministry, all 6,300 staff covered by the arrangement have since received their payments.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Accra, the Ministry further stated that there were currently no outstanding requests for financial clearance from the GES awaiting action by the Ministry of Finance.
The clarification follows an appeal by the Coalition of Unpaid Newly Posted Staff of the GES for the payment of outstanding salary arrears.
The Ministry advised any staff member who continues to have an unresolved salary or arrears issue to contact the GES for assistance with the relevant payroll or administrative matter.
“Any staff member with an unresolved salary or arrears issue is advised to contact the Ghana Education Service for assistance with the relevant payroll or administrative matter,” it said.
