DCE Supports Some PWDs with Financial Assistance for Medical and School Bills

2 MIN READ

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Atwima Kwanwoma District in the Ashanti Region, Mrs Grace Agyemang Asamoah, has presented financial assistance to 11 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to support them in settling medical and school-related bills.

The support, presented at the DCE’s office, forms part of the District Assembly’s commitment to improving the welfare and living conditions of Persons with Disabilities and other vulnerable groups within the district.

The beneficiaries, who were faced with financial difficulties arising from medical expenses and educational needs, received the assistance to help ease the financial burden on them and their families.

Speaking during the presentation, Mrs Agyemang Asamoah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that Persons with Disabilities were not left behind in the country’s development process.

She noted that supporting PWDs should go beyond providing financial assistance, stressing the need to create opportunities that would enable them to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to society.

According to her, the government and the Assembly would continue to explore measures to empower PWDs through social interventions, skills development, education, healthcare support and other initiatives aimed at improving their livelihoods.

The DCE encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the assistance and remain hopeful despite the challenges they might face.

She further assured them that the Assembly would continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify and address the needs of vulnerable persons in the district.

The beneficiaries and their families expressed appreciation to the DCE and the Assembly for the support, describing the intervention as timely and helpful.

The presentation forms part of broader efforts by the government and the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly to promote social inclusion, protect vulnerable groups and ensure that Persons with Disabilities have access to the necessary support and opportunities to improve their quality of life.
