2 MIN READ

The Eastern Regional Coordinating Council has launched Eastern Expo 2026 as part of efforts to attract investment, promote local businesses and unlock new economic opportunities for the region.

Launching the initiative in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, said the Expo would provide a platform for businesses, entrepreneurs and investors to forge partnerships that stimulate enterprise growth, create jobs and accelerate sustainable economic development.

This is scheduled to take place from September 26 to October 3, 2026, under the theme “Unlocking Opportunities for Sustainable Trade, Tourism and Investment.”

It is expected to showcase the region’s competitive advantages in agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and commerce while positioning the Eastern Region as a preferred investment destination.

Mrs Awatey said the initiative aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s Resetting Ghana Agenda and the 24-Hour Economy Policy, which seek to boost productivity, attract private sector investment and expand employment opportunities.

She encouraged local businesses, investors and development partners to take advantage of the Expo to promote their products, explore new markets and establish strategic partnerships that will contribute to the region’s economic transformation.

The Minister highlighted the Eastern Region’s rich agricultural resources, vibrant commercial centres and renowned tourist attractions, including Boti Falls, Aburi Botanical Gardens, the Kwahu Mountains and the Akosombo Dam, describing them as key assets that make the region attractive for tourism and investment.

Also speaking at the launch, President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, Nene Sakite II, described the Expo as an important initiative that would promote economic growth, strengthen collaboration among stakeholders and create opportunities for youth entrepreneurship and employment.

He expressed optimism that the event would attract investors and stimulate sustainable development across the Eastern Region.
