Government to Resume Dome–Kitase Road Project Under Big Push Programme

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has disclosed the government’s decision to resume construction works on the Dome–Kitase Road Project under the Big Push Infrastructure Programme, after the project stalled in 2022 following Ghana’s debt restructuring exercise.

According to the Ministry, the sector Minister, Kwame Agbodza, on Tuesday directed the contractor, First Sky Limited, to fully mobilise to site by the close of this week.

The project, which had reached about 27 per cent completion before suspension, is now expected to be completed by 2028.

The Ministry added that the scope has been expanded to include 10 kilometres of connecting roads to nearby communities, aimed at improving access and enhancing connectivity along the stretch.

Mr Agbodza explained that prioritising the Dome–Kitase Road under the Big Push Programme forms part of Government’s broader efforts to address key infrastructure needs and strengthen road networks nationwide.

“We are taking the necessary steps to ensure that this project resumes fully and progresses without interruption. The contractor is expected to mobilise back to site by the end of this week, and we want to see sustained work until the project is completed,” he noted.
