Media Response Extends Deadline for Mini-Video Competition on Free Movement and Migration to End of August

Media Response has extended the deadline for the ongoing Mini-Video Competition on Free Movement and Migration in West Africa to 31 August 2026, giving more participants across the region the opportunity to submit their stories.

The competition forms part of the Reframing Narratives on Free Movement and Migration in West Africa (FMM II) project. It is open to journalists, content creators, communications officers, activists and interested citizens to produce short videos that highlight the benefits, opportunities, and realities associated with regional mobility within the ECOWAS region.

The extension follows the successful completion of three training workshops on digital content creation and mini-video blogging held in Ghana’s Western, Volta and Upper East regions.

Participants are expected to produce short videos highlighting real-life experiences of migration, cross-border trade, education, entrepreneurship, cultural exchange and regional integration in West Africa.

Enam Apetorgbor, Communications Officer at Media Response, said the extension would allow more people to participate and contribute to changing public perceptions about migration.

“We want to give more people the opportunity to tell authentic stories that reflect the realities and benefits of free movement in West Africa. Every story has the power to promote understanding, reduce misinformation and encourage informed conversations on migration,” she said.

Entries will be assessed on creativity, relevance to the theme, storytelling, accuracy and overall impact. Winning videos will receive prizes and will be showcased on the project’s communication platforms and during public engagement activities.
