Trading And Vehicular Movement to Be Restricted on National Sanitation Day – KMA
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced that Saturday, August 1, 2026, will be observed as National Sanitation Day in the Kumasi Metropolis, as part of government’s monthly initiative to tackle sanitation challenges nationwide.
In a public announcement on Wednesday, the Assembly said the clean-up exercise will take place from 6:00 am to 12:00noon across 7 designated operational areas in the city.
The affected areas include Krofrom Traffic Light to Yenyawuso, Krofrom Traffic Light to Tafo Nhyiaeso, Nana Afodwo Street, Krofrom Traffic Light to Suame Roundabout (Both sides), Wesco School Gate (Rango) to Krofrom Traffic Light, X-5 Pub to Krofrom Traffic Light and Krofrom “Columbia” Street.
As part of the directive, all trading activities and shops within the operational areas are to remain closed until 12noon. The KMA also stated that no vehicular movement will be permitted in those areas during the exercise.
The Assembly is calling on residents, traders, corporate organisations, and other stakeholders to actively participate in the clean-up exercise to ensure its success.
KMA noted that the exercise aligns with the government’s vision of maintaining a clean and healthy environment through consistent community participation.
