The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has explored a partnership with the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) to document, preserve and promote Ghana’s cultural heritage through research, creative writing and cultural performances.

The proposed collaboration seeks to create opportunities to document endangered cultural practices, preserve traditional knowledge and strengthen the link between academic research and national cultural development.

During discussions with the University, attention was drawn to UniMAC’s Creative Cave initiative, which provides students with practical experience in researching cultural traditions, writing and publishing books, and showcasing Ghanaian heritage.

Mrs Gomashie noted the importance of credible research in preserving the country’s cultural heritage and ensuring that traditional knowledge is accurately documented for future generations.

She said effective documentation would help safeguard Ghana’s cultural traditions while promoting a better understanding of the country’s history and identity.
